Process:
1. Get two pieces of paper that was given to us in class
2. Decide which crayons would be considered a cool color, which crayons would be a warm color, and which crayons were not going to be used in the piece.
3.Put a water color wash on each paper.
4.Align which crayons were going to be used on the paper. The crayons could be aligned in any way.
5. Start to melt the crayons onto the paper using the heat gun. This is where freedom comes into play and each person created a different way to have their crayons melt.
6. Find a word that describes the piece.
7.Sew the word onto the crayon piece and add anything else that is needed to complete the piece and turn it into a work of art.
Warm Colors-
For my warm color crayon piece I decided to use the word (obnoxious) because after completing my piece using the crayons, that was the word that came to mind. I looked at my piece and saw how the crayon lines went all over the page, in no particular order, and had absolutely no alignment at all. when I saw this, I wanted to use a word that meant "out of order" or "messed up". When I think of something that is obnoxious, I think of a person wearing every type of clothing item possible, not matching at all, no color coordination, and wearing the loudest, brightest colors that they could think of. And now when I look at my crayon piece that is what I see.
Cool colors -
The word that I used for the cool colors crayon poster was (Enchanted). When I first started out with this piece, i was not completely satisfied with just letting the cool colors run down the page. I wanted to add a different color to the piece that really stood out. That is when I decided to use lime green and make put them as more of paint splatters and dots on top of the colors that were already there. when I saw the blues, purples, and greens on my piece I instantly thought of the word "enchanted" such as princesses, frogs, forest, waterfalls, and castles. All the colors mixed together reminded me of an imaginary world such as a fairy tale. When I added the word to my piece I wanted to put the green "paint splatters" on top of the word but the crayon melted through the fabric before it dried so unfortunately that did not work out so well. Overall I am very happy with both my pieces using the crayons to show the difference between warm and cool colors.
